Your metal, accounted for at every step.
When your consignment arrives at Ormeau it is registered as its own lot, and it stays that way until you are paid. Weighing, sampling, assay and settlement are each recorded against that lot, so you always have a clear record of what came in, what it assayed at and what you were paid.

Receipt to settlement
One lot, one number, one record.
- 1
Receipt
Consignments are received only from verified customers. Each package is inspected on arrival for tampering, and its condition, seals and gross weight are logged before anything is opened.
- 2
Lot identification
Your material is assigned a unique lot number that stays with it through every stage. Lots are never mixed with other customers' material before settlement.
- 3
Weighing & sampling
The lot is weighed on calibrated scales and sampled using documented procedures. Weights and sample details are recorded against the lot number and communicated to you.
- 4
Assay
Samples are analysed in our NATA-accredited laboratory by X-ray fluorescence, fire assay or ICP analysis. Results are reported against your lot, and retained with the laboratory's records.
- 5
Settlement
You receive a settlement statement showing the received weight, assay results, recovered fine metal and the price applied. Payment is made by bank transfer to your verified account.
- 6
Refining
Only after settlement does your material enter the refining and casting stream. Fine metal produced at Ormeau is stamped Australis Bullion and assayed again before it leaves.
- 7
Records
Receipt, weighing, sampling, assay and settlement records are retained together, so any lot can be traced back to its arrival for as long as the law requires — and longer where our customers need it.
- 8
Your documents
On request we provide the paperwork for your consignment: receipt confirmation, assay certificate and settlement statement — the documents your own auditors, insurers or downstream buyers may ask for.
Why it matters
Provenance you can stand behind.
Chain of custody is what turns a bag of scrap or a parcel of alluvial gold into metal with a verifiable history. It protects you from disputes over weight and purity, it lets downstream buyers and regulators see where metal came from, and it keeps illicit material out of the supply chain.
It works hand in hand with our KYC and anti-money laundering checks, which establish who we are dealing with before any material is accepted, and with the independent accreditations that stand behind every weight and assay we report.
This page describes our standard practice. If your organisation has its own custody, audit or reporting requirements, talk to us before consigning and we will agree a procedure that meets them.
